We employ approximately 1000 staff to help provide quality services to the local community and ensure a better future for local people. The Council has a wide variety of jobs in the following areas:

We employ professional and technical staff in the above areas and also have a number of support and administrative staff to assist in the provision of our services. The work is varied and interesting and you know you are making a real contribution to the local community.

The majority of our staff are employed at the Civic Centre in Chelmsford. Other employment locations such as the Refuse Depot, Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre and Parks Depot are generally located around Chelmsford Town area.

We often have opportunities for full and part time temporary clerical and administrative work. Good I.T. and communication skills are usually a prerequisite for these jobs. These temporary posts provide a good opportunity for people to experience local government work and offer a stepping-stone for further development. The work can also be very varied and interesting.
